The photos show the state of the old bolt when removed and the socket I used which has no sign of wear and finally the new bolt in place. I have been struggling for over 3 weeks trying to remove this bolt and within 15 minutes of this being delivered, I had successfully removed the bolt with no sign of wear on the product which is surprising as the bolt was very tight. The extractors are made of heat-treated chrome vanadium. All of the extractor pieces undergo Black oxidation for preventing corrosion. I had previously tried many other products and techniques including squaring off the head so a normal socket would fit and cutting slots to use a bolster screwdriver this worked to a degree but the bolt was very soft metal and this soon rounded off the slots so I had no grip.Īs I said earlier this product was my last hope before giving up and taking it to a garage and I am pleased to say it worked flawlessly, I just chose the size that fitted best then hammered it on and used my torque wrench to remove the bolt. The Eapele Impact bolt nut extractor socket toolset is a cheap option for handymen looking for all the versatility of a 13 piece set without breaking the bank. I bought this product as my last hope of removing a rounded off allen head bolt from my motorcycle. I would definitely recommend these sockets But, remember even good tools have mechanical limitations. Enter the Irwin Bolt-Grip Deep Well Set. Conventional sockets simply spun on the plug and getting it drilled out could have been a massive repair bill. If I was the manufacturer I'd remove the 3/8th hole on the back of the smaller sockets forcing you to use the hex on the outside of the socket. Rated 5 out of 5 by Rich from Got the job done with ease I was unfortunate enough to encounter a stripped spark plug hex nut in my Ford 4.6L V8 engine. Then if you use the 3/8th hole with your ratchet you then add even more stress on the inside of the removal socket! I wouldn't try it on the sockets that don't have a lot of material thickness around the 3/8th hole. Think about it.you hammer the socket on the bolt head and cause outward stress on wall of the removal socket.

I wouldn't recommend using the 3/8th hole in the socket though. Gently tapped one of these removal sockets on the rounded bolt and used a standard socket on the outside of the removal socket.bingo! I was surprised how well it gripped the knackered bolthead.

Tried everything grips, plumbers wrench etc. Had a rounded off 17mm bolt head on my car's break caliper.
